Parents of young children go back and forth with, should we wait or should we move forward with therapy.  As a licensed speech language pathologist who specializes in the early intervention population, contact a local speech pathologist and have a conversation. Most professionals will give you complimentary advice on whether or not they believe you should have your child be seen for a screening or an evaluation.   Children follow a “typical” path of development; however, each child does develop at their own pace.  It is a matter of determining if there is in fact a delay/disorder and how significant the delay/disorder is at that time.  It is a case by case decision and a skilled professional can help you come up with a good plan of action.  So no matter how young your child is, if you have concerns, call for some advice.
